POST-B'NAI MITZVAH (GRADES 8 & 9)
8th and 9th grade students have ten sessions on Monday Nights (8th)/Sunday mornings (9th) this year. The reduced number of sessions opens up our Post-B’nai Mitzvah class to students who really want to participate but have limited time. These sessions will continue to be the deep, informal learning and bonding with half the evenings spent volunteering together at Cor Unum, as well as other tikkun olam (social justice) projects selected by students. We ask parents to drive students to volunteering sites in a carpool at least twice a year.
Post-B’nai Mitzvah is the beginning of the Confirmation Track (see next page).

Texts & Materials: Life & experience! Supplemented with Jewish texts and “Praying With Our Feet.

CONFIRMATION (GRADE 10)
Confirmation is a culmination of children’s Jewish learning journey. In Confirmation class students have the opportunity to explore their Jewish identities, current issues and ethical choices with Rabbi Goldstein in a relaxed environment, while solidifying friendships with their peers. The class also includes the memorable New York City Confirmation trip which occurs once every two years, in the spring (see calendar for dates). On the New York trip Confirmation students escape with our clergy to the Big Apple to explore Jewish American and immigrant culture. The class culminates with a Shabbat service led by the Confirmation students on the Shabbat closest to Shavuot (usually in May or June). Confirmation meets for 10 sessions on Sundays, for one hour.

CONFIRMATION TRACK ALTERNATIVES
Teenagers, like adults, find many avenues of connecting to Judaism. Confirmation participants may choose one, two or three tracks for 8th – 10th grade and then be confirmed in 10th grade.

The three tracks are:
• Post B'nai Mitzvah Class (Grades 8 & 9) and Confirmation Class (10th)
• The Madrichim Program
• And/or active participation in the junior and senior youth group, TEMTY
