Sisterhood President's Message

What a fantastic way to end an incredible year! One hundred and ninety women packed the Temple social hall to attend this year’s Ways and Means Spring Celebration Dinner featuring noted author Anita Diamant. With delicious food provided by David’s Catering and Events, creative auction and raffle items, a great time was had by all. Kudos to Rona Beetham and Kathy Hurst, co-chairs of the event, and their committee. The evening was more than amazing. Proceeds from the event allow Sisterhood to continue its many programs.

There are many people that need to be thanked for their time and dedication throughout the year. Debbie Ginsberg and Betsy Brother have brightened Thursdays for our seniors. Marissa McClintock organized our newest future members with our Babies and Bagels group. Without Lori Aronovitz, Beth Shiro, and Melanie Shipon, there wouldn’t be any Shabbat Dinners to warm our Friday nights.   Sharon Morgenstern has helped us all enjoy our simchas and holidays by coordinating custom kippot and challah orders.  A special thanks to Lori Burke, nominating chair, for all her efforts in finding just the right people to continue the mission of Sisterhood.   And finally, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Paula Kushnir and Debbie Goldstein. These dedicated Sisterhood board members have spent endless hours operating the Judaica Shop for the past four years.

Wishing you a wonderful relaxing summer……..Karen Krichmar

Women of Reform Judaism is the voice, the presence and the venue for action of the women of Reform Judaism in the synagogue, the Jewish community, interfaith groups and the general, local, national and international community. It is the women's agency and an affiliate of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), the central body of Reform Judaism in North America. The founder of NFTY (the North American Federation of Temple Youth) and a founder of the Jewish Braille Institute, WRJ is a member of the World Union for Progressive Judaism and works on behalf of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.

WRJ brings together more than 75,000 Jewish women in over 500 Sisterhoods throughout the United States and in Canada and in other countries: Panama, Netherlands Antilles, Argentina, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Israel, the Republic of South Africa, India, Australia and New Zealand.

Founded in 1913 as the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods (NFTS), the organization was established during a historic period of advancing struggle for recognition and equality for women.  Empowered by the Reform Movement 's precept of placing Jewish women on a plane of religious equality with men, NFTS became active in areas that continue to define its work today.
