I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This is my favorite time of year: I love all the foods, the leaves have fallen and we begin to think about the changes we want to make for the next season, physically and emotionally.
The Saturday Night Social held in November was a fun night! This event was different from previous fundraisers - yes, we raised money, but we also took a great opportunity to gather to build a stronger community. If you could not make this event, make a little note to yourself that we will always have some type of event the weekend before Thanksgiving and maybe you will be able to join us next year. I want to thank the efforts of all those who worked so hard to make this a successful event.
Now, as we move into December, there are so many exciting things to which we can look forward. Though it may be cold outside, you will be warmed up and charged by the Calypso Chanukah program, to be held Friday, December 16th.
In addition to the efforts of Cantor Idan and Cantorial Soloist Jodi Blankstein we will be treated to Calypso Reggae by the White-Eyed Lizard Band. While you are preparing for Chanukah, stop in and see all the new items in the newly renovated Judaica shop. You can support the Sisterhood by buying chocolate gelt, menorahs, candles and more.
I also want to thank all the members of the Long Range Planning Committee. They have been working very hard to get feedback from the Board and community regarding, clergy, music, education, membership, technology and communications. Our efforts will only be complete with the involvement of the congregation: we are looking to engage the entire community in new and exciting ways.
This month Kendall Covitz, a certified RYT 200 yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, will be offering a yoga class on Sunday morning, December 11. There will be two sessions from which to choose (see info in the December Bulletin). This is a great way to meet others in the community and participate in a fun class. If you can come, bring a mat and be ready to work out.
The best way for our congregation to be successful is to listen to our members. I am always anxious to hear from you – so feel free to drop me a note with the things you like, things we could do better and other suggestions or questions you might have.
Enjoy the holiday season! Susie Novick
